Ancient and mysterious, the Eldar are enigmatic aliens who never speak openly of their terrible past. Long ago, when Mankind’s ancestors had just crawled from the seas, their empire spanned the galaxy. Their whims decided the fate of worlds and quenched the fiercest suns. Now, they are all but extinct – the last fragments of a shattered civilisation plunged into constant warfare. They have been reduced to a scattered and nomadic race, as those who had retained enough sanity to flee before the Fall did so on mighty living vessels called Craftworlds. It is on these world-ships that the last remnants of the Eldar civilisation drift amongst the stars.

Millennia ago, the Eldar fell prey to sinful pride, then decadence, and finally depravity. From their waking dreams, an unimaginably sickening and obscene god was born. The psychic implosion of its birth-cries tore out the heart of their empire, leaving a pulsing, bleeding afterbirth of pure chaos in its place – the Eye of Terror. Only by rigid dedication and denial of their darker sides can the Eldar stave off the predatory god that still hungers for their souls, and in these dark times more and more Eldar turn to the Path of the Warrior.
Despite all they have lost, the incredibly advanced technology of the Eldar makes them a fearsome adversary on the battlefield. Sleek, graceful anti-grav vehicles glide effortlessly through incoming fire, laying down firepower that renders the thickest armour useless. Squads of elite Aspect Warriors strike at vital points in the enemy lines, destroying many times their own number. Without the skilled Aspect Warriors and the guidance of the powerful Farseers, the once-bright star of the Eldar race will dwindle and die out altogether.
