Every subject of the Imperium serves the God-Emperor of Mankind, either in worship or in deed. From the lowliest scribe to the mightiest Space Marine there is not a single soul amongst his numberless subjects who does not serve the vast machine that is the Imperium. On a million worlds, the faithful give praise to the Emperor for their continued existence, gathering under the auspices of the Ecclesiarchy whose Preachers and Confessors spread the teachings of the Emperor to the masses. From their holy books and scriptures are the common citizenry of the Imperium warned of the dangers of heresy, mutation and witchcraft and the deadly punishments meted out to those who break faith with the Emperor. And they are also told of those servants of the Emperor who wage war upon such deviants; the agents of the Orders of the Emperor’s Holy Inquisition.

Inquisitors are utterly ruthless individuals who hunt the enemies of the Emperor across every Imperial world and beyond, questing into the dark places of the galaxy for those who conspire against the Imperium. None are above their suspicions, and it is a brave individual who dares defy an Inquisitor, for their power is great and none who are cast within their nightmare oubliettes are ever seen again. They may call upon any to aid them and their servants range from battle-hardened Sisters of Battle, lethal assassins and Space Marines to monstrous beings of terrible power bound to the Inquisitor’s service. The reach of the Emperor’s servants is long and though the Imperium is the greatest stellar realm ever seen, no man or other creature is beyond their keen gaze.
