Apply a Chaos Black undercoat to the model. To begin, drybrush the Tyranid’s armor and chest plate Hawk Turquoise. Make sure that you get into all the arm and leg joints as well, and also the parts of skin where the bones show through.
Paint the large claws, hooves, and small claws Graveyard Earth. This layer will act as an undercoat for the drybrushing you are about to do. Carefully paint the Tyranid's body and gun Blood Red. To make sure that your paint does not flood into the cracks, make sure that you don’t have too much on your brush. You will notice that the black undercoat will show through the first coat of red paint to dull the color nicely.
To finish the bone areas, drybrush everything that you painted Graveyard Earth with Bleached Bone. To make the red stand out, paint a second coat once the first has finished drying. This second coat will help the red appear brighter and less patchy.
Parts such as the tongue require a steady hand. Due to this bit's small size, it’s important that you only have a small amount of paint on the brush, otherwise it will go everywhere and ruin your work. Carefully paint the tongue Liche Purple. To paint the teeth, you should use the side of the brush instead of the point. By dragging the side of the brush across the surface of the teeth, the paint won’t spill into any gaps. Carefully paint the teeth Bleached Bone. Finally, with the point of your brush, pick out the eyes and bone on the gun with Bleached Bone.
